Updated Prompts for the AOL Forest Operator IRC
Participants are invited to prepare a 3-5 minute speech on living a healthy and safe lifestyle while working in Oregon's logging and forest contracting sector. The speech should cover:
The importance of exercise and physical fitness,
Strategies for working safely in various weather conditions,
The importance of proper PPE and general work attire for the job or task,
The significance of adequate rest and the risks of fatigue,
The importance of maintaining a clear head, including the dangers of using nicotine, drugs, and alcohol on the job or the night before,
How worker safety affects a business and the cost of an accident.
Use credible sources, real-life examples, and practical advice to inspire and educate your peers about health and safety in their future careers. Notecards up to 5” x 8” are permitted. The timer will signal at 4 minutes and cut off at 5 minutes, with a 5-point penalty for every 15 seconds under or over 3 minutes.

Search for the current calendar year, by category type: both (safety and health), and by industry: Forest Activities
The speech should cover:
What the violation is and which regulation was broken?
The risks associated with the violation,
How to mitigate the issue,
Why there are regulations around occupational safety related to the violation to begin with.
